Cēla reimagines olive oil packaging as a contemporary ritual object that merges Mediterranean heritage with sustainable luxury. Inspired by the symbolic depth of the olive tree and the quiet rituals surrounding it, Cēla draws from Cycladic figurines and Minoan frescoes to transform an everyday product into a vessel of memory and continuity. Four guardian figures, the Eye, the King, the Spirit of Nature and the Storyteller, embody timeless values, turning the act of pouring olive oil into a moment of reflection and cultural connection.

At its core, Cēla is a hand-blown glass bottle cradled in a CNC-milled solid oak base shaped as a “C,” evoking both the project’s name and a sense of embrace. Minimal UV-printed line illustrations float through the golden liquid, echoing purity and myth while ensuring a plastic free tactile experience. The wax sealed closure reinforces a sense of exclusivity and sacredness, inviting careful handling and transforming daily use into a poetic gesture.

Developed through ethnographic design methods, Cēla balances narrative richness with minimalist form to avoid cliché and ornamental excess. Every detail from materials to proportions was chosen to foster a deeper emotional bond between object and user. The design celebrates material honesty, sustainability and craftsmanship, elevating olive oil packaging into a collectible art inspired piece.

Positioned at the intersection of premium gastronomy and contemporary cultural merchandising, Cēla appeals to design conscious consumers, collectors and discerning gift buyers seeking authentic meaningful experiences. By reframing packaging as a cultural artifact, Cēla demonstrates how everyday objects can become vessels of memory and ritual, offering a model of sustainable design that is both ecologically mindful and emotionally resonant.
